Injuries to Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan haven’t changed Inter Milan’s stance on Roma transfer target Davide Frattesi.
According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the defending Serie A champions would only sell their midfielder for a substantial figure.
Indeed, nothing less than €45 million would be enough to convince Inter to sell the 25-year-old in January.
While the situation could change at the end of the season, Frattesi seems destined to stay at Giuseppe Meazza until July.
Roma would ideally bring the Italian star back to the Stadio Olimpico this winter.
However, they cannot afford Inter’s asking price, meaning they’ll likely need to wait until the summer.
In addition to Calhanoglu, Inter will be without Mkhitaryan in tomorrow’s must-win Serie A home game against Bologna.
The Armenian veteran has been fundamental to Simone Inzaghi’s set-up, and it’ll likely be up to Frattesi to fill his shoes.
With Kristjan Asllani deputizing for Calhanoglu, Inzaghi has no choice but to reinstate the ex-Sassuolo midfielder.
Despite wasting several promising-looking counter-attacks against Venezia, Frattesi remains the best alternative.
Indeed, he should partner up with Nicolo Barella and Asllani in an experimental engine room on Wednesday evening.
