Aston Villa’s injury list rose to six after Ross Barkley was substituted due to injury in the first half of the FA Cup win over West Ham on Friday night.
Villa were already without six players (five injured, one suspended) for the victory over the Hammers so this was a blow for manager Unai Emery.
Barkley started the last two games following injury to John McGinn and has made 23 appearances in all competitions after signing from Luton for £5 million in the summer.
Manager Emery explained that the former England international is set for a spell on the sidelines: “He had a small injury in his calf,”
“Hopefully not a lot, but we will check him. Normally an injury like that can be two or three weeks out.”
