Milan might bring in a new director, but the new hire is unlikely to change the plan of going with an Italian coach next, and, among the options, Maurizio Sarri is gaining momentum, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
Sergio Conceiçao would have to win the Coppa Italia and finish the season very well in Serie A to have a shot. De facto, the brass started searching for another manager shortly after appointing him.
Milan are evaluating a few profiles on top of Sarri, such as Massimiliano Allegri, Gian Piero Gasperini, Maurizio Sarri, Roberto Mancini, and Antonio Conte. The last one is the least likely after they passed on him last summer. The Atalanta gaffer might not leave after all. The brass seems to prefer the former Napoli, Juventus, and Chelsea boss over the other two free agent options.
The Rossoneri had multiple meetings with Igli Tare and have been eyeing a few directors under contract with other sides. However, they might end up standing pat and continuing with their current management structure.
Per Calciomercato, their owner had new contacts with Fabio Paratici. It remains to be seen whether he’ll be back in the picture after his hiring fell through at the 11th hour a month ago.
The chatter about the coach is pretty much moot until they make up their mind about the front office. Even if they may think they do, they won’t have the pick of the litter without the Champions League and with a squad filled with question marks. If they want Paratici, they should just keep it quiet and sign him in July once his suspension is over.
