The transfer saga surrounding Mohamed Salah has taken a fresh twist as Saudi club Al-Hilal has intensified efforts to sign the Egyptian superstar. With his Liverpool contract set to expire in June, speculation is mounting over whether Salah will remain at Anfield, move to Paris Saint-Germain, or finally make the long-anticipated switch to the Saudi Pro League.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Al-Hilal has re-established contact with Salah’s representatives, hoping to secure his signature ahead of European competitors. The Saudi club, backed by the nation’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), has been courting Salah for several years but has now ramped up efforts to tempt him away from Liverpool.

While no official offer has been submitted, L’Equipe states that “Saudi leaders have resumed concrete contacts with Mohamed Salah’s entourage to offer him to join Al-Hilal.” The absence of a formal proposal does not diminish the serious intent of the club, which remains determined to lure Salah to an emerging league eager for high-profile signings.
Al-Hilal’s urgency in pursuing Salah has been further strengthened by Neymar’s anticipated departure. The Brazilian forward’s exit will free up a foreign player slot, providing the club with the flexibility to add another global star. Salah, who remains one of the most marketable names in football, fits the profile perfectly.
However, the key question remains: will Salah be willing to swap European football for Saudi Arabia? At 32, he still has several years of top-level football left in him, and with Liverpool still competing for Premier League and Champions League honours, he may not be ready to take such a step.
Liverpool remains keen to extend Salah’s contract, with new manager Arne Slot eager to keep his talisman at Anfield. However, with no agreement in place and time running out, the possibility of a free transfer is growing. PSG, another club reportedly monitoring Salah’s situation, could also present an attractive option, offering Champions League football and a lucrative contract.

As L’Equipe highlighted, “The biggest competition for PSG will come from Liverpool, who hope to sign him to an extension, but also from Saudi Arabia.” With all three clubs pushing to secure Salah’s services, his next move will depend on personal ambition, financial incentives, and sporting aspirations.
The coming months will be crucial in determining Salah’s future. Will he commit to Liverpool and solidify his legendary status at the club? Could PSG lure him to Paris as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappé? Or will Al-Hilal finally succeed in convincing him to join a league that has long admired him?
One thing is certain: the race is on, and the outcome will shape not only Salah’s career but also the fortunes of Liverpool, PSG, and Saudi football.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that Salah remains at Anfield for at least another season. His influence on the team is undeniable, and with Arne Slot looking to build on Jurgen Klopp’s legacy, losing Salah would be a seismic blow. The club has navigated high-profile departures before, but replacing a player of his calibre is no easy task.
Financially, a Saudi offer could be tempting for Liverpool, especially if a significant transfer fee is proposed rather than losing him on a free transfer. However, the fanbase remains divided on whether cashing in now is the right move or if Salah should be retained at all costs.
Given his professionalism and continued high-level performances, many supporters would rather see him extend his stay and help Liverpool challenge for major honours. If a new deal can be agreed, it would reinforce the club’s ambitions under Slot and ensure that Salah’s legacy at Anfield remains intact.
As speculation intensifies, one thing remains clear: Liverpool fans will be watching closely, hoping their Egyptian King chooses to stay.
