Bournemouth moved ahead of Fulham into eighth place in the Premier League thanks to Antoinee Semenyo's early goal.

The Cherries made the best possible start at the Vitality Stadium with a goal inside the first minute of the game.

It was a moment of magic from Antoine Semenyo, who won the ball from Antonee Robinson, dropped the shoulder in front of Calvin Bassey to find space and then delivered a low drive past Bernd Leno.

Bournemouth could have made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when Evanilson hit the bar following Alex Scott's header down.

Fulham had chances themselves in the first period with Ryan Sessegnon in particular having a great opportunity to head in at the far post from Alex Iwobi's cross.

The home side survived a VAR check when Marcos Senesi lunged in on Joachim Andersen. Referee Michael Oliver only gave a yellow and after consultation that decision stood. The Argentinian could consider himself lucky as if Oliver had given a red it was another decision that would have likely stood. Andoni Iraola reacted by hooking the defender, now on a yellow, at the break.

With the Cottagers needing to get back into the game, Marco Silva made three changes with an hour gone in the game. Kepa Arrizabalaga was needed to keep Iwobi's shot out as the visitors started to build momentum as the game went on.

But the visitors ultimately couldn't find a leveller meaning that they drop down below Bournemouth due to the Cherries' superior goal difference.
