Serie A table and results updated after Week 24: Inter close in on Napoli

Inter have moved within one point of the league leaders Napoli after the conclusion of the 24th round of Serie A fixtures, as five points currently separate the top three teams in the division.

Here is how everything has changed over the course of this weekend’s fixtures.

Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Udinese on Sunday: Scott McTominay’s header cancelled out by Jurgen Ekkelenkamp three minutes later. The Partenopei had a three-point advantage at the start of the weekend, which is now just one after Sunday’s draw.

Inter made sure that they kept the pressure on Antonio Conte and his men after a 2-1 victory against Fiorentina in San Siro on Monday evening, just a few days after the Nerazzurri were beaten 3-0 by the same opponents in Tuscany. A Marin Pongracic own goal and a Marko Arnautovic header helped them on their way to victory.

A Mateo Retegui-inspired Atalanta recorded a 5-0 win away against Hellas Verona on Saturday; The Italy international providing four of those goals. La Dea are in third place on 50 points, four points off Inter and five behind Napoli.

Lazio also scored five over the weekend in a 5-1 victory over Monza, which means that they claim fourth place for the week. 45 points for the Biancocelesti after 24 matches, 10 off Napoli.

Juventus beat Como 2-1 on Friday evening thanks to another Randal Kolo Muani brace. He now has five goals from his first three Bianconeri matches, becoming the first Juve player since Roberto Baggio to score in each of his first three appearances for the club.

Juve are now in fifth on 43 points, two shy of the Champions League places and 12 off the league leaders.

Despite being beaten 2-1 by Inter, Fiorentina remain in sixth place on 42 points, one off Juventus in fifth.

Seventh place is where Milan currently stand following their 2-0 win over Empoli. The Rossoneri have 38 points for the season, but still have a game in hand on everybody apart from Bologna.

Speaking of the Rossoblu, they sit just behind Milan in eighth place in the Serie A standings, although they currently have the same points tally (38).

Claudio Ranieri’s Roma are in ninth place after a 1-0 win away against Venezia on Sunday, which was the fifth win in eight matches for the Giallorossi, who have remained unbeaten over that period.
