Kenny spoke to Sky Sports and confirmed that there has been interested from Sheffield United.

“Yes, it’s true that Sheffield United would like to sign me immediately and I want to take this step. I really love Hertha BSC and owe a lot to the club,” said Kenny.

“It was exactly the step I wanted to take at the time and I have always given 100 percent for the success of the club from day one and still do. In recent years, my girlfriend and I have become parents and so many things have changed off the football pitch.”

The 27-year-old has a contract that expires with Hertha at the end of the season but is eager to help Sheffield United secure promotion back to the Premier League.

“Sheffield United offered me this option and I very much hope that the clubs can come to an agreement and that I can leave Berlin with great gratitude and on good terms,” he said.

Kenny has made 21 appearances for Hertha this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

He has been at the club since 2022 after making the move from Everton and became a regular in the German capital, making a total of 84 appearances.

According to Alan Nixon, a fee of around £800,000 is set to be paid for his services and a deal should be completed very soon.
