Sheffield United have completed the signing of former Lewes forward Jacqui Hand on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this morning.

The 25-year-old spent last season with Lewes off the back off a spell with Finnish club Åland United. Hand made 10 appearances for The Rookettes in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored one goal.

On the international stage, Hand has been capped by New Zealand on 27 occasions while she has scored eight goals for her country.

Sheffield United were short of experienced attacking options but Hand will now hope to make an impact for The Blades in that area of the pitch.

After adding Hand to his squad, Sheffield United head coach Ash Thompson said “We’re really pleased to have brought in Jacqui for a variety of reasons. She is someone who knows this league but also has experience at the very top level, having played at a World Cup and an Olympic Games as recent as this summer. She’ll provide attributes we’ve been missing in our front-line and we’re looking forward to working together.”

Sheffield United are back in Barclays Women’s Championship action on Sunday when they face Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium.
