Arne Slot has said Liverpool’s status as Premier League champions ‘is a big attraction to players we want to bring in’.
Liverpool secured the Premier League title with a 5-1 win over Tottenham last Sunday, wrapping up the league with four games to spare. The Reds have been the division’s best team this season to claim just a second league title in the Premier League era.
Though four games remain of the current campaign, attention has already turned to next season and improving further on their title triumph.
Slot believes Liverpool’s success and post-title celebrations will increase the attraction of his team to potential transfer targets this summer.
“There are so many things that influence next season,” he said at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Chelsea.
“Is it an advantage some teams don’t do Club World Cup? Main advantage of winning Premier League is new players I always told them the fans are special and that was not necessary to tell but after Sunday I don’t think I have to tell anyone!
“That was un-believe-able! They didn’t come on the pitch, a lot of clubs’ fans do that and our stayed on the stands…
“Winning the league, having these fans, this is a big attraction to players we want to bring in and it definitely helpful.”
Slot spoke further on his debut season in the Premier League, opening up on his pride to succeed in the ‘most competitive league in the world’. The Premier League has four semi-finalists across the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
“I think No.14 (Manchester United) and 16 (Tottenham) in the Premier League have so much more funds than No1. in Holland (Ajax), for example. Not a complete surprise [Man Utd and Spurs do well in Europa League].
“English teams can all the way in these competitions, different league compared to money. It’s more balanced in Champions League, so big achievement for Arsenal they are still in the Champions League. It tells you how strong this Premier League is but it is the most competitive league in the world.”
