Graham Potter is hoping the win over Arsenal will instill confidence in his West Ham side ahead of Leicester tomorrow night.
Potters side produced a stunning display in the victory over the Gunners at the weekend, with the boss admitting it was time for his team to produce a big result.
“Results are the key thing in football, and it was great to get a good one on Saturday,” Potter told the press, as reported by the clubs Official Website.
“You know you have to get results, and it’s always a question of how you do that. We’ve focused as much as possible on our daily work, because that’s what you can control, and I think if you keep doing that then you’re able to get the rewards.
“It doesn’t happen overnight, because that would be too easy. It can take a while, but the performance and the result at the weekend gives us confidence going forward.”
Potter was full of praise for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been a stunning signing for the club so far, since his arrival in the summer from Manchester United.
“He’s been really impressive,” said the West Ham boss.
“I think the wing-back role probably helps bring the best out of him. Away at Aston Villa in the Premier League, and then against Arsenal at the weekend, I thought he was brilliant.
“He can do both sides of the game, he’s working away and I’m delighted to have him here.”
West Ham face relegation threatened Leicester City tomorrow night, with Potter acknowledging that his side are ready to face a very different challenge.
“The opponent’s always got something to fight for, something to prove and quality, and that’s the case with Leicester. They’ll be looking to turn their fortunes around, for sure,” added Potter.
“Anything can happen in football. Just when you think there’s no way forward, something can come up, and vice versa. So we need to have humility and respect for the opponent, which we have.”
