The Italy national team have completed their first training session of the March international break, and Luciano Spalletti has already tested two slightly different systems ahead of the Nations League quarter-finals against Germany later this week.
The Azzurri will play Germany in San Siro on Thursday, before travelling to Dortmund for the return leg of the Nations League quarter-final at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.
After a busy week of Serie A, Premier League, Ligue 1 and League Cup final action for the Azzurri squad, it was a limited session for Spalletti and his team on Monday, as only nine players were available to take part in the first round of training.

According to reports from TMW, Spalletti still managed to test two systems in a 10 vs. 11 mini-match.
As there were only nine players available, the Italy national team side were joined by 17-year-old Matias Mancuso, who is a part of Inter’s U18 squad. The Azzurri are currently training at Inter’s base for the game in San Siro on Thursday. The opposition XI was made up by a selection of Inter youth players from a number of different age groups.
According to Monday’s reports, Spalletti was able to test two slightly different structures ahead of the first leg of the Nations League quarter-final against Germany on Thursday.
Firstly, Spalletti tried a 3-4-1-2 system, led by Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca and Atalanta’s Daniel Maldini in attack, with Inter’s Davide Frattesi in the trequartista role behind them.
Spalletti later switched to a 3-5-1-1, dropping Frattesi back into the midfield three along with Samuele Ricci and Cesare Casadei, with Maldini in the trequartista role behind Lucca up front.
