Stats show key Chelsea star is finding form at the right moment | OneFootball

It’s the 20th day in May – time to check out how our number 20 is getting on this month.

He’s maybe the biggest name and the biggest star in the squad right now, and Cole Palmer has had a good month. The 17th of April was the loss against Legia Warsaw which Palmer started in a desperate attempt to get him firing, at what was perhaps the nadir of the whole season.

But since then the team’s fortunes have improved, and Palmer has found some form in the month since then.

He’s still not hitting the heights of earlier this season, or of the last campaign, and certainly his production in terms of goals and assists has gone off a cliff. But his all round play and confidence are on the way up.

Against Fulham he was pretty quiet – but the team got a win. But in subsequent league games against Everton, Liverpool and Man U he’s been quietly effective. The loss to Newcastle was a shocker all around – but playing with ten men away at St James’ Park was always going to be a nightmare for an attacking player.

Palmer’s stats show improvement

His stats have seen an uptick too, as his WhoScored ratings show.

He has found some form again at just the right moment, with two huge games left to play, one away at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest where he can help earn us Champions League football, and one in the Conference League final where he can win his first trophy as a Chelsea player.

Let’s hope this upward trend continues – the whole of our season may hinge on whether Palmer is able to grab a vital goal or assist in the next 180 minutes of action.
