Following the 2-0 win at Manchester City at the weekend, Liverpool entertained Newcastle United in a tantalizing preview to next month’s EFL Cup final.

The world-class Brazilian stopper was comfortable and only really had a Callum Wilson effort to worry him in a strong and authoritative performance.

Trent Alexander Arnold – 7.0

The England superstar started the game with a slow demeanour as he looked to edge his way into the game. It was in the second half that he came alive and committed fully to an attacking effort to help win the game.

The Greek international was strong and reliable to ensure his side of the pitch was locked down whilst being a good option from wide.

Ibrahima Konaté – 8.0

The France international defender was powerful and resilient against anything that came his way, as he and Virgil ensured another deserved clean sheet.

The captain and leader of this team was in full control of his defensive line and commanded with authority. Whenever the ball needed heading away or the cover of his players was required, he was on point to ensure another shit out.

The Hungarian skipper was at times sensational and scored a good goal in the first half to break the deadlock. His powerful running and endless work rate drove his side forward in a match-winning display.

The Argentina World Cup winner was brilliant and controlled in equal measures. The combative nature of the South American was coupled with a clinical edge in front of goal as he scored the second to secure three points.

The Portuguese striker was limited by a deep and organised low block which he struggled to overcome. The work rate and desire were never in doubt.

The Columbian forward started on the wing and delivered the assist for the first and was a common outlet for his side. With an ability to offer an unpredictable edge, the former Porto man was always able to relieve pressure against a good side.

The Egyptian King was again a creative outlet that portrayed world-class abilities. The assist for Mac Allister was superb and it was within a brilliant attacking performance.
