As much comes by way of his latest appearance for La Real.

As things stand at Anoeta, it is the evening’s hosts who boast the advantage on the scoreline, owing to a solitary goal on the part of the aforementioned Kubo.

And yet, it is not his goalscoring exploits which have seen Real Sociedad’s wing wizard etch his name into the history books late on Saturday.

As much, instead, comes owing to little more than his taking to the pitch against Valencia.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘Takefusa Kubo, who scored his 24th LaLiga goal today, has become the Japanese player with the most appearances in the history of the competition (167) surpassing Takashi Inui’s record (166).’
