While Igli Tare and Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani reportedly agreed on considering Massimiliano Allegri the first-choice candidate to take over the Rossoneri bench next season, they also discussed two potential alternatives, both currently under contract with Serie A clubs.
The former Lazio executive and the Diavolo’s CEO met for the first time on Tuesday, as the club appears close to appointing a new sporting director—having assessed various profiles and dropped the pursuit of Fabio Paratici, despite negotiations seemingly reaching an advanced stage.

Milan’s managerial choice for next season was among the topics discussed by the pair – it has emerged that they both view Allegri as the ideal successor to Sergio Conceiçao, though his name was reportedly not the only one mentioned during their talks.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tare and Furlani also identified two alternatives: Vincenzo Italiano and Cesc Fabregas.
The Bologna coach, in particular, is said to be highly rated by both executives, having consistently brought improvement to every team he has managed in recent years.

Fabregas is also under close observation, with Como’s bold playing style having caught the club’s attention. However, the Rossoneri are aware that another season in a less pressurised environment could be beneficial for the former Spain international.
However, Milan are expected to step up their search for a new head coach only after finalising the appointment of a sporting director, with Furlani set to meet Tare again—as well as other candidates—over the coming weeks.
