Dani Olmo returned to action for Barcelona earlier this month and even made a powerful cameo off the bench in the team’s recent 4-1 win over Sevilla.

His presence on the field has always proven to be invaluable for the Catalans and his quality is taken for granted, so much so that many forget he was very close to not being a part of the second half of the season for Barcelona.

After Barcelona were denied Olmo’s registration by La Liga, the Catalans took to the CSD and earned the precautionary measure to register him. The league, however, are doing everything in their capacity to make sure his registration is canceled once more.

Tebas speaks on Olmo

Speaking to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung (h/t MARCA) in a recent interview, La Liga president Javier Tebas was once again asked if there is a possibility that Dani Olmo’s licence could be revoked and he showed that he is intent on getting the player de-registered.

“Yes [there is a chance],” he said.

When asked if he sympathized with the attacking midfielder for his situation and a possible de-registration once more, Tebas said:

“Do I feel sorry for the player? He knew when he signed his contract that he could run the risk of not being registered to play. And if that case comes, there’s nothing you can do. There are also players who get injured.”

CSD’s decision permitting Olmo’s participation, as it stands, is not binding and the council has given both parties time to put forth their cases on the matter.

The legal department of the government body must reach a final decision before April 7th and it remains to be seen whose side they favour.

Barcelona, for their part, are confident that they did not err in any capacity and that the player’s licence will not be revoked.
