One player who has impressed during their loan spell away from Manchester City is young centre-back Juma Bah. Bah was signed by Manchester City from Real Valladolid during the January transfer window. He subsequently joined Lens in Ligue One for the remainder of this season. Juma Bah has now established himself in the Lens defence. The more you see him play the more it is becoming clear that the case for him to become a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season.

Juma Bah was again impressive for Lens at the weekend.

Lens had a 2-1 win over Lyon at the weekend in Ligue One. It was a game that saw Lyon dominate possession and they also created a host of chances. But a strong defensive performance from Lens laid the foundation for their win. At the heart of the performance was Juma Bah. He put in a superb individual performance at the back from Lens. Bah was strong in a challenge and good in the air. He won his duels as his strength stood out throughout the game. On the ball, he was composed when he needed to be. Juma Bah’s performance against Lyon was key in his team’s backs-against-the-wall victory.

Manchester City may have another defensive option for next season.

Looking at how Bah has performed for Lens, he has shown that physically, he is ready to play at the top level. He showed that with Real Valladolid in La Liga during the first half of this season. Bah has gone up another level with Lens. But his overall performances suggest that he could be ready for a role in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season.

Perhaps Juma Bah may be given an opportunity to impress with Manchester City during the FIFA Club World Cup and during City’s pre-season. If he is given that opportunity it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him seize it. He has already shown this season that he has what it takes to make it at the top level. If he can continue his strong form for the remainder of this season for Lens the case for Bah to stay at Manchester City for next season may be overwhelming.
