‘The fans can stay calm’… Barcelona star provides big update on his contract renewal talks | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are almost always occupied with ensuring that their team can compete at the best of their sporting abilities. However, saying that is one thing and actually making it a reality is an entirely different headache. Fortunately for Barcelona, some issues are easier to sort out than others.

While some cases such as those of Ronald Araujo’s continue to be troublesome, others prove to be more straightforward. Even though it might be true that Serie A side Juventus are seemingly interested in the services of the Uruguayan defender, what makes it more complicated is that the player himself might be willing to leave.

Other players, however, seem much more inclined towards staying at Barcelona if possible. One such player would be Pedri, the 22-year-old Spanish midfielder who is seen as one of the pillars of the team and its upcoming future. Already a crucial piece of Hansi Flick’s team, he still has many more years of football to give.

That is why, as recent reports had previously highlighted, Barcelona wish to extend the young Golden Boy’s stay at the club till at least 2030. Now, as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard himself has provided an update on the matter as well:

“My agents and Barcelona tell me that new contract talks are going well, all is proceeding.”

He also went on to say that the fans of the club can remain reassured over his future and implied that his stay at Barcelona is more or less a guarantee:

“The fans can stay calm and relax.”

However, before any sort of official renewal can be signed or announced, Barcelona need to generate the right kind of Financial Fairplay. Until and unless they achieve that objective and are in line with the necessities for it, the official announcement of any renewal may have to wait.
