Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is considered the future of Argentinian football, so many of his countrymen are eager to see him leave Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old was a regular starter in the previous two campaigns with Erik ten Hag in charge, cementing himself as one of the most promising young talents across the globe. However, his playing time has been reduced in previous months following the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese tactician had even omitted the youngster from the matchday squad against Man City alongside Marcus Rashford, before swiftly reintegrating him in the following fixtures. The Argentine was in the starting lineup in the FA Cup victory over Arsenal last Sunday, but this was mainly because Amad Diallo wasn’t in his optimal physical shape.

So at the moment, Garnacho’s future at the club appears to be in great jeopardy, especially with the two parties failing to make significant progress in the contract renewal talks. Moreover, Napoli have emerged as a potential destination for the young winger whom they consider the ideal profile to replace PSG-bound Khvicha Kvaratkhelia.

According to South American football expert Tim Vickery, the Argentines, who deem Garnacho as the possible heir to Angel Di Maria, would be delighted to see him leave Old Trafford and revive his career elsewhere, as they’re worried about his lack of playing time with the Red Devils.

“A lot of people in Argentina will be hoping he moves. They have just lost Angel Di Maria and Garnacho is the one who they are looking to, to be the one to combine with [Lionel] Messi,” said Vickery in his appearance on Sky Sports News.

“There is a worry in Argentina that he has stalled. He is much more Spanish than Argentine, he was born there and grew up there. Maybe a move back to Spain to get his career back on course.”
