Barcelona suffered their first defeat of 2025 earlier this week as they lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite the loss, the Blaugrana made it through to the semi-finals of the competition on aggregate score, having beaten the Germans 4-0 in the first leg last week.
Following their return from Germany, the players took part in a light training session on Wednesday but were granted Thursday day off by manager Hansi Flick.
However, despite being given a rest day by the manager, three Barcelona stars – Robert Lewandowski, Wojciech Szczesny, and Pedri showed up at the Ciutat Esportiva today to train voluntarily, reports Carlos Monfort (h/t Carpetas FCB).
This is not the first time that players, despite having a day off, have opted to work on their fitness levels at the club facilities, showing the high levels of dedication and commitment within the Barça squad this season.

All three aforementioned stars are crucial players in Hansi Flick’s setup and will have an integral role to play in the final phase of the season.
Up next for the Blaugrana is a crucial La Liga clash against Celta Vigo on Saturday – a victory there could put rivals Real Madrid under intense pressure, especially after they lost to Arsenal last night and were booted out of the Champions League.
Of the three players, there is a possibility that Lewandowski might be given a rest by Flick against Celta at the weekend.
Pedri, who did not start against Borussia Dortmund in midweek, is likely to return to the starting XI while Wojciech Szczesny is a guaranteed starter until Marc-Andre ter Stegen receives his medical clearance.
