One of 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern’s pivotal performers over the second half of the season may be in line for a move to the top flight. Sky Germany and multiple other German footballing media sources report that flexible midfielder Luca Sirch is on the radar of three Bundesliga clubs. FC Augsburg, FC Union Berlin, and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are said to be interested in the 25-year-old.
Sirch has scored four goals and provided four assists for die roten Teufel this season. The central midfielder’s impressive performance as an ad-hoc centre-back over the last four months has seen him raise his estimated market value from €500,000 to €1.8m. Sirch made the leap to Lautern in the German second division from fourth-tier side Lokomotive Leipzig this past summer.
A stay in the Palatinate isn’t out of the question for the 25-year-old as his current club remain in the hunt for Bundesliga promotion. Sirch may nevertheless be tempted by an Augsburg switch as he was born in the Fuggerstadt. The Augsburg-native began his professional journey at nearby FCA neighbor FC Memmingen.
Augsburg and Lautern have been active professional partners as of late, organizing winter short-term loans for both midfielder Tim Breithaupt and defender Maximilian Bauer. Should Lautern wish to retain their player, a new lucrative contract would surely be in order.
