Tottenham Hotspur are leaving their transfer business late once again, and Fikayo Tomori has emerged as a potential last-minute addition.
With just days remaining before the transfer window slams shut, Spurs are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing in defensive reinforcements.
While much of the focus has been on strengthening their attack, particularly with the pursuit of Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel, Ange Postecoglou is also keen to bolster his backline.
One of his main targets is now believed to be available – but Spurs aren’t the only ones in the race.
The North London club face competition from another Premier League side, and with time running out, securing the defender’s signature will not be straightforward.
However, given his attributes and experience, Tottenham’s interest is understandable.

According to TEAMTALK, AC Milan may be open to letting Tomori leave on loan for the rest of the season.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Tottenham have overtaken Aston Villa in the race for the England international, with the two clubs now locked in a battle to secure his services before Monday’s deadline.
The move would likely be a temporary one, with Tomori seeking more regular game time.
Despite being a key figure for Milan in the past, the defender has not been an undisputed starter this season.
This has reportedly prompted him to consider his options, and Spurs could offer him the opportunity to regain form in the Premier League.
While Postecoglou’s team have been solid defensively, injuries and squad depth remain concerns.
Tomori, with his pace, ball-playing ability, and one-on-one defending, fits well within Tottenham’s tactical framework.
However, his potential arrival raises questions about his role in the squad, given that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the preferred centre-back pairing when fit.
One of the key factors in Tottenham’s pursuit of Tomori could be the future of Cristian Romero.
The Argentine defender will have just one year left on his contract at the end of the season, and should Spurs decide to cash in on him, Tomori could be seen as a long-term replacement.
For now, though, Tottenham’s immediate priority is finalising a deal before the deadline.
