Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on the transfer market as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his defensive options.

Recent developments have linked the player to a possible move away from Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham might be in the running to secure his signature.

The big question now is whether Spurs can strike a deal for a reduced fee, as reports suggest the French giants could lower their asking price.

Milan Skriniar linked with Tottenham move from PSG

Milan Skriniar, the Slovakian centre-back, has found himself in a precarious position at PSG this season.

Under the management of Luis Enrique, the 29-year-old has seen his role diminish, even being left out of the matchday squad on multiple occasions.

It has now been reported that Skriniar has made up his mind to leave the French capital in January, and Tottenham is emerging as one of the main contenders for his signature.

The situation has become more intriguing as PSG reportedly hopes to secure €35m (around £29m) for Skriniar.

However, negotiations could see that figure drop to around €25m (£20.7m), giving Tottenham a potential opportunity to sign the experienced defender at a bargain price.

Tottenham will compete with many other clubs

Tottenham are believed to see Skriniar as an important addition to their defence, with the player offering valuable support for Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

However, it is understood that Postecoglou views him as a squad player rather than a guaranteed starter, which could influence the centre-back's decision.

Despite the potential for a lower fee, Tottenham will face stiff competition for Skriniar's signature.

The PSG defender is also reportedly attracting interest from several other top clubs, including Newcastle United, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, Al Nassr, and Atletico Madrid.

Many of these clubs are expected to offer him a regular starting role, which could complicate Tottenham’s pursuit of the player.
