San Luis Potosí - It was a tough night at the Alfonso Lastras Stadium for Guadalajara, who had a good first half that was not reflected on the scoreboard and a series of defensive lapses at the start of the second half put them on the ropes when they found themselves down by a large margin. Although the Rebaño fought until the end to try to turn the situation around and rescue at least a point, they fell short in their efforts and lost 3-1 to Atlético San Luis on Wednesday night, on matchday 9 of the Clausura 2025.
There is no time for regrets, as Chivas will have to redouble their efforts and focus on their next match against Pumas, next Sunday in the #CapitalRojiblanca on Saturday, March 1.
The goals
- The home side took the lead at the start of the second half, as at 50' Salles-Lamonge appeared in the heart of the box to connect the ball with the outside of his right foot to a cross and put it right into the right corner, impossible to save.
- The Potosinos extended their lead at 55' through Vitinho, who fired a cross-shot that ended up in the back of the net.
- San Luis scored the third at 72', after Leonardo Bonatini tried his luck from the halfway line and sent the ball into the net.
- Chivas closed the gap on the restart of the match, after 'Piojo' launched a long throw that left Javier Hernández alone in front of the goalkeeper, who shook off the defender in the one-on-one situation and pushed the ball into the goal.
Dangerous chances
- At 10' Hugo Cameros shook off the mark and then tried his luck from the edge of the area, but the goalkeeper made a save.
- At 21' Luis Romo appeared inside the area to head the ball, but his attempt was too wide.
- At 24', Camberos headed a cross to the far post, but the ball went just over the goal.
- At 39', 'Tala' Rangel made a two-time save on a powerful low line from Vitinho that was looking for the base of the right post.
- At 51', Chivas came up just short of equalizing from a free kick that none of the red and white players were able to take and the ball went inches wide of the left post.
- At 58', José Castillo went on the attack, but his mid-range shot had no direction on goal.
- At 77', Cowell crashed his shot into the goalkeeper's chest, when he had been clear in front of goal.
- At 80', the goalkeeper at first and then a defender prevented Hernández's double, who tried his luck with a couple of shots.
