After defeating Liverpool 2-1 on Tuesday night at Anfield, Paris Saint-Germain now face another Premier League team, Aston Villa, with a spot in the semifinal at stake.
PSG had to battle hard against Liverpool, with a penalty shootout ultimately securing the win, while Aston Villa breezed through their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Club Brugge, winning 6-1 on aggregate.
Aston Villa won the first leg 3-1, and though the second leg went into extra time, goals from Marco Asensio, who is on loan from PSG, and Ian Maatsen sealed a 3-0 victory to finish off the tie.

Unai Emery will return to the club he managed from 2016 to 2018, where he won a league title, two Coupe de France trophies, two Coupe de la Ligue trophies, and two Trophée des Champions. After Aston Villa’s win over Club Brugge, the Spanish manager said, “It will be fantastic” to return to Paris.
“It will be a big challenge for Aston Villa, our supporters, the players, the staff, and for me too,” Emery said (h/t Paris Fans). “Playing against PSG is special because I haven’t been back since I left. I haven’t played them, I haven’t visited Paris either. I’ll be there soon. It will be fantastic.”
Asensio, meanwhile, will face the coach who reduced his role this season, which led to his move to Villa Park in the winter transfer window.
