Celtic battle bravely but are beaten by Chelsea

Scorers: Agnew 22'; Hamano 28', Lawrence 32'

Sent off: Beever-Jones 90+5

Celtic put up a keen fight against Chelsea, but ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.

The Ghirls shocked the visitors when they took the lead, Murphy Agnew keeping a cool head to slot her shot beyond Zećira Mušović when she found herself in a one-on-one situation.

Any joy was short-lived though, when Aggie Beever-Jones crossed the ball from the right-hand side into the box, finding Maika Hamano in space, and the Japan international finished well to put her side level.

Just four minutes later and Chelsea completed the turn-around as some quick passing and movement from the Blues culminating in Ashley Lawrence lifting a high shot into the roof of the net from inside the penalty area.

With seconds remaining, Beever-Jones was shown a red card for a second bookable offence.

Chelsea sit at the summit of Group B with a 100% record, three points ahead of Real Madrid.

Dumornay stunner helps Lyon see off Roma

Scorers: Dumornay 36', 42', Gilles 52'

A goal from just under halfway was part of a 3-0 win for Lyon away at Roma.

Roma kept last season's finalists at bay for over 30 minutes, but failed to properly clear their lines from a corner and up popped Melchie Dumornay to register her first of the evening.

Dumornay netted her second soon afterwards, but the strike was nothing like the first as she chipped the finish from just under halfway.

Into the second half and Roma goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar made a mess at the near post from a corner, and Vanessa Gilles reacted quickest to force home the advantage.

The Giallorosse previously had a 100% record, but with that win, Lyon now move above them to sit at the top of Group A.

Blomqvist hits a hat-trick as Wolfsburg demolish Galatasaray

Scorers: Wedemeyer 24', Blomqvist 63' 77', 90+6', Endemann 90+7

Wolfsburg registered a comprehensive 4-0 win away at Galatasaray.

It was the German side who took the lead when a looping corner was attacked at the far post by Joelle Wedemeyer, the defender scoring her first ever UWCL goal after 38 appearances.

Into the second half and Rebecka Blomqvist was on hand to tap in from a long-range strike that had crashed onto the underside of the bar and bounced down.

The Sweden international struck again just 14 minutes later, this time curling an effort in left-footed when she found herself in space inside the box.

Blomqvist's hat-trick was complete as she added her third six minutes into stoppage time.

If that wasn't enough, Vivien Endemann struck for Wolfsburg's fifth in the 97th minute before the final whistle blew.

The two sides meet again in Germany for the return fixture next week.

Weir steals the show as Real Madrid hammer FC Twente

Scorers: Bruun 3', Méndez 16' 63', Feller 50', Weir 55', Hernández 65', Camacho 90+2'

Real Madrid showed their dominance with a 7-0 win over FC Twente.

The home side raced to an early lead when Caroline Weir curled an angled ball right into the path of Signe Bruun, who supplied the simple finish.

One very quickly became two as a Melanie Leupolz corner was headed home by defender María Méndez.

Twente regrouped after the second goal and managed the attacking threat much more effectively.

But five minutes into the second half and Real Madrid had their third. Weir delivered an inch-perfect cross for Naomie Feller to head past Twente goalkeeper Olivia Clark.

When Filippa Angeldal was brought down just outside the box by Twente captain Danique van Ginkel, the home side were awarded a free-kick in a central position. Up stepped Weir and bent in a stunning effort that smashed into the top corner.

The fifth went in just after the hour mark when Oihane Hernández received a defence splitting pass to leave her to fire home when one-on-one with Clark.

Madrid made it six when Hernández headed home to secure her brace, becoming the first defender to do so in the UWCL this season.

19-year-old Carla Camacho added Madrid's seventh in what was a night to forget for FC Twente.

That win means Alberto Toril's side have taken six points from their opening three UWCL group stage games.

The group stage continues next week, with all of the UWCL sides scheduled to play over the course of Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November.
