Ruud van Nistelrooy has reappeared on Burnley’s radar, The Sun reports (via Voetbal Primeur). The coach who left Manchester United this week could replace the under-pressure Scott Parker at Turf Moor.
So far, there has been no contact between Burnley and Van Nistelrooy, but the coach is said to be back on the radar after he was approached for the position of head coach last summer.
Of course, he opted for a job at Manchester United – as an assistant to Erik ten Hag before becoming interim on the fellow-Dutchman’s departure.
While it was initially believed that Van Nistelrooy would stay on the coaching staff amid the arrival of Ruben Amorim, it was quickly made apparent that the incoming Sporting boss was putting together his own technical staff.
Burnley, of course, played in the Premier League last season. Yet, following relegation under Vincent Kompany, they find themselves in the second tier, where Scott Parker’s work has seen them sit in fourth. Despite this feat, the former Fulham, AFC Bournemouth, and Club Brugge boss has found criticism, leading to Van Nistelrooy’s name reemerging.
