Walker reveals Beckham gave blessing to Milan move: “Do it proud” | OneFootball

A number of historic players have won the famous Rossoneri AC Milan shirt, and a few of those have been English talents, so when Kyle Walker moved, he hoped for the approval of David Beckham.

Making a move like Walker did will always be less intimidating than moving from a club where the standards may be different. However, the Englishman is used to the pressures of elite football, and more importantly, the pressure to succeed.

With Manchester City, the defender won everything there was to win, and did so regularly, making him a prime example to follow, and this is why a few head coaches want to build around him next season.

So, it is no surprise that his move was endorsed by David Beckham, whose career also followed a similar path – winning regularly, winning everything and leading by example, and Walker revealed how the former Galactico wished him well to GQ, via Goal.

“He messaged me, and I said, ‘I hope you don’t mind me taking your number’. He says, ‘No, it’s an honour; do it proud. Hopefully, I can keep performing well, keep getting the wins for the team.”

Maybe Becks will have to drop him another message shortly, asking him to continue his stay in Milano, with reports suggesting Walker could head back to Manchester this summer.
