Arsenal now believe they have got inside Manchester City’s heads following their 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.

He claimed in his latest ‘Reading the Game’ weekly newsletter on Friday that while Arsenal players sank to the floor in deflation after John Stones’ equaliser, the mood has changed as the week went on, influenced by the fallout.

Man City players have been very vocal of how the North London club played against them, and they know Arsenal are now credible challengers.

The Gunners now see the result as a fine point in the circumstances, but are even more encouraged by how they believe they have got inside City’s heads.

They think this is crucial, and could give them an edge “psychologically” in the Premier League title race going forward.

Having finished second behind Man City in each of the last two campaigns, Arsenal are desperate to go one better and win their first title since 2004.

They were seconds away from their first win at Etihad since January 2015 before the 98th-minute equaliser from Stones broke their hearts.

A victory would have seen them go top of the Premier League table, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils after playing with a man down for the whole of the second-half.

Arsenal left Man City rattled, and the gulf between both sides has narrowed considerably in recent seasons.

They will fancy their chances of strongly challenging for the title this term, and they now have to ensure they maintain momentum from now until the very end of the campaign.

The Gunners missed out on the title by just two points last term and the title race this term promises to be fierce and very close once again.
