Why Milan will not decide on new coach or sporting director in March

Milan are still on the search for a new sporting director and an eventual replacement for current head coach Sergio Conceicao, but the Rossoneri are not expected to make any official decisions during the March international break, despite having a fortnight off from Serie A action.
Serie A football will take a two-week break for the March international break, which includes Italy’s Nations League quarter-final against Germany coming up on Thursday and Sunday. While there is a chance for teams to regroup, Milan will not be making any long-term commitments in terms of their new coach or sporting director.
According to Monday’s reports, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani will be in Dubai over the course of the next week for a series of meetings with commercial partners in the newly-established club offices in the UAE, which means that he will not be available to assist in the hiring process for a new sporting director.
Rossoneri representatives in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and owner Gerry Cardinale have already held talks with both Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare over a possible appointment as sporting director in San Siro, but Furlani will also have a major say in the matter, and has not yet had an opportunity to meet with potential candidates.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Paratici is becoming the increasingly preferred option out of the two aforementioned candidates, while Tare’s candidacy is becoming a less likely eventuality.
Another reason for the delay in Milan’s appointing of a new sporting director is the fact that the club want to make sure they have the right person in place to work with their new coach, whoever that may be.
Milan are reportedly sold on the idea of appointing an Italian coach to replace Conceicao at the end of the season, which is another reason why Paratici is an increasing possibility, particularly if the Rossoneri turn to a former Juventus coach in either Massimiliano Allegri or Antonio Conte.
