Aston Villa share the points with Man Utd

Manchester United succumbed to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to struggling Aston Villa.

The visitors had the best of the first half, with Phallon Tullis-Joyce making a top-class double save, the second of which denying a stinging shot from Jordan Nobbs.

It took Manchester United until the 72nd minute to create their first shot on target as Ella Toone hit a shot goalwards from a Geyse cross, but her effort was saved by Sabrina D'Angelo.

There was some top level defending on show as the sides cancelled each other out, with Villa's Anna Patten making a crucial block with the outside of her hip and Gabby George putting in a wonderfully timed tackle with the match heading into added time.

The result leaves Mark Skinner's side one point behind Brighton in third.

Clinical Chelsea sink Liverpool

Scorers: Ramírez 37', Reiten 42', Beever-Jones 90'

Chelsea showed their professionalism as they defeated Liverpool by a 3-0 scoreline in St. Helens.

A hard-working Liverpool side were finally breached by Chelsea just before half-time, when a shot from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd thundered off the underside of the crossbar, and after scramble around the goal, Mayra Ramírez netted a rebound from close range.

Goalkeeper Rachel Laws was alive to the danger of Ramírez as she rushed out of her box to try and stop her striking again, but that left her miles off her line as the ball fell to Guro Reiten who shot into the empty net from distance.

Liverpool once again kept things tight in the second half, but with the game almost over, Chelsea breached their defence as Ramírez steamed forward on the wing, with Aggie Beever-Jones able to tap home the finish.

Everton battle back to earn Palace draw

Scorers: Riley 1'; Hayashi 72'

A second half comeback from Everton earned them a 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace were ahead after just 30 seconds when Everton's Katja Snoeijs was inexplicably running back towards goal with the ball. Palace pounced on that error, allowing Indiah-Page Riley to deliver a simple finish.

Into the second half and Everton pulled one back when an inch-perfect cross from Veatriki Sarri was met by the head of Honoka Hayashi.

That was Everton's first WSL goal of the season, not including own goals.

The Toffees remain without a league win in the current campaign, while Crystal Palace are yet to win at home.

West Ham battle to first win of the season

Scorers: Asseyi 45+7

West Ham ground out a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Leicester City.

Rehanne Skinner's side took the lead deep into stoppage time in the first half when a through ball from Manuela Paví split open the Leicester defence allowing Viviane Asseyi to round the goalkeeper and tap home.

The second half was a test of stealth for the Hammers, and leaves them locked on five points alongside this afternoon's opponents.

There is Champions League action to look forward to in midweek, with Arsenal travelling to Juventus, Man City at home to Hammarby and Chelsea away at Celtic.
