Italy legend Gianfranco Zola admits being disappointed by Marcus Rasfhord’s career but is convinced he or Kyle Walker would make the difference at Milan.

Magic Box spoke about Milan’s latest transfer activity in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday.

The Rossoneri are in talks with Manchester United for Rashford but are also considering signing Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.

“Rashford is a sore point for me because I’ve always considered him a strong player who can make a difference,” Zola said.

“On the contrary, he has disappointed me a little because he could have done so much more [in his career]. He has alternated excellent seasons, like two years ago, with disappointing campaigns, like the last one. He’s been highly inconsistent.

“He is a fast and technical player. He could perform well in Italy, and I think he has the potential to be a Premier League MVP.”

Where could he play for Milan?

“He gives his best on the left, where he’s played the most for Manchester United. Rashford could be an alternative to Leao as a left-winger or play as a centre-forward.

“He is tactically smart, and he can move well inside the spaces thanks to his pace. It would be up to him and his willingness to adapt to a new role that requires extra focus to understand the movements.”

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Walker wants to move abroad this month. Would he be a good fit to Milan?

“He is a high-level defender who would make a difference in Serie A,” said Zola.

“He would join the club from the most physical league in Europe, so he can surely have a big impact. Whoever signs him will make a great deal.”

Zola feels Milan would make an excellent move regardless of whether they sign Rashford or Walker this month.

“They are two high-level players who would give their contribution in Serie A, even in a top club like Milan. I’m sure they would make the difference,” concluded the ex-Chelsea striker.

Reports in Italy claim Milan have prioritised Rashford over Walker, so the Rossoneri are now waiting for a crucial meeting between the striker’s entourage and the Manchester United directors, which is expected to take place on Wednesday.
