FC Barcelona have only two matches remaining before the next international break begins. The first of these two matches will be played tonight, in the UEFA Champions League against Red Star Belgrade. The second will be played against Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.
While the team will then not have any matches scheduled for the following two weeks, this does not mean the Blaugrana players will get a lot of rest, as most of these players will leave the Catalan club to join their national team camps.
The national team with the highest representation from Barcelona is once again going to be Spain, as several Blaugrana players are important clogs in Luis de la Fuente’s team.
But the number of these players might increase even further in the November break as Diario AS reports that another Barcelona player, Marc Casado, could be a part of the senior Spain team for this upcoming November international break.
In this break, the Spaniards are going to play two matches, against Denmark and Switzerland. But there is not a lot at stake in these matches, as La Roja has already qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League. But they will still be playing for the top spot in their group.
Luis de la Fuente has closely monitored Casado’s performances this season and has been particularly impressed with the 21-year-old midfielder’s displays in the last two matches against Real Madrid and Espanyol.
If he gets the call-up, this will be a significant step forward for the youngster who has only once been called up for the U-21 Spain side, in the last international break. Before that, his last international call-up came five years ago, with the U-16 team. Rodri’s injury might be a factor if de le Fuente ultimately calls him up.
