FC Barcelona got an important 1-4 victory over Sevilla in their last La Liga game, which reduced their deficit at the top of the league table to 2 points.
Despite having to play most of the second half with 10 men on the pitch, the Blaugranes were able to score four goals in this game, as Robert Lewandowski, Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, and Eric Garcia all got on the scoresheet.
The fourth of these goals came in the final minutes of the game, as Garcia headed a ball into the back of the net to further extend his side’s advantage before the full-time whistle.
Furthermore, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, this headed goal also means the defender continues with his peculiar scoring record, as all of his goals throughout his career have come from headers.
The Spanish defender has scored 9 goals in his career up to now, 4 with Barcelona and 5 with Girona, and all of them have come from his head, showcasing his proficiency in this aspect of the game.
His first career goal came against the same team against which he scored last night, i.e., Sevilla, as he scored for the Blaugrana club in a 0-3 victory in La Liga 2022-23 season. Then, last season, playing on loan at Girona, he scored 5 goals in the league, against Granada, Cadiz, Athletic Club, Alaves, and Villarreal.
Since returning to the Catalan club last summer, the former Manchester City man has scored another 3 headed goals. One of these goals came against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, another came against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League, and last night he scored against Sevilla in La Liga.
With these three goals, he also became the highest-scoring defender for Barcelona this season, along with Jules Kounde, who also has 3 goals to his name, one more than Inigo Martinez’s tally of 2 goals.
