‘A great player’… Rivaldo wants to see €80m-rated Atletico Madrid star playing for Barcelona | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are set to face Atletico Madrid in their upcoming game in La Liga, in a fixture that can have significant implications for the league race, as both these teams are competing for the title and are separated by only a single point, though the Blaugranes have a game in hand.

The Argentine Julian Alvarez will be one of the biggest threats for the Catalan team in this game, as he has already scored 22 goals and provided 5 assists in his 43 games for the Mattress Makers since joining them last summer.

Keeping in view his great performances with the Colchoneros, a Barcelona legend expressed his desire to see him wearing the blue and garnet jersey in the future. This legend is none other than the former Brazilian forward Rivaldo, who won a Ballon d’Or during his time at the Blaugrana club.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the former striker was quite clear that Alvarez would be a great addition to Hansi Flick’s side:

“He’s a great player, and I would really like to see him at Barcelona. He would undoubtedly be a great addition.”

However, Rivaldo understood that this would not be an easy transfer to make, especially as Atletico Madrid paid €75 million and promised another €20 million in variables to get him from Manchester City:

“Everything would depend on a detailed analysis by the club, especially from a financial standpoint and how this transfer could be carried out.”

Since his arrival at the Madrid club last summer, the €80m-rated Argentine forward has proven his ability to play in La Liga beyond any doubt.

Barcelona will have to be particularly wary of the threat he poses in the game on Sunday, but as Rivaldo commented, he would definitely be a very good addition to this Blaugrana squad that is looking to strengthen the forward line in the coming months.
