Leeds United have recently dropped a few points in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke's side have won just one of their last four games in the Championship, which has left them only two points clear of Burnley in third place, and level on points with Sheffield United, who have a significantly inferior goal difference, in second.

The Whites have dropped points against West Bromwich Albion, Portsmouth and Queens Park Rangers in recent weeks, so they will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Swansea City after the international break.

Leeds have little room for error in the race for automatic promotion, as both Burnley and Sheffield United have been in good form of late, and if they fail to win promotion this season, several of their players could attract transfer interest this summer.

Leeds warned about summer transfer interest

We asked our Leeds fan pundit, Ger Lynch, which player he thinks the club could sell for the most money in the summer.

"Probably Dan James or Ao Tanaka," Ger said.

"Ao Tanaka only came into Leeds for £3.5 million, and he has been touted as one of the best signings of the season, so I think his stock has probably gone up considerably. He looks like a player who could easily maintain a strong position for most of the clubs in the Premier League.

"I think Tanaka's value has definitely gone up significantly, and I would say it is above £10 million now looking at what he has done in the Championship, and there still seems to be room for growth there as well.

"Dan James, although Leeds spent a lot of money on him when they brought him in, for a couple of years he obviously struggled, particularly during Jesse Marsch's time at the club, when he was sent on loan to Fulham in the relegation season.

"In the last two seasons he has got better and better and his finishing this season, his end product, has been phenomenal for Leeds, so I think if Leeds were not to get promoted and other clubs came sniffing around for players, Dan James would be one of the first that clubs would look at.

"He was always known for being a fast player, and some people thought that was all he had, but if you look at him now, his goals and assists, his end product overall, the chances he creates in games, are way higher than they were a couple of years ago.

"Dan James is probably the number one."

Leeds will want to avoid repeat of last summer

Leeds will be desperate to avoid a repeat of last summer, when several key players left Elland Road following their defeat against Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Georginio Rutter joined Brighton & Hove Albion, Crysencio Summerville signed for West Ham United, and Archie Gray completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur, in what were three notable departures as Leeds' squad was picked apart by clubs in higher divisions.

Following Leeds' recent downturn in form, there is now a risk that they could end up in the play-offs once again, and if they are unable to achieve promotion this time around, the likes of James and Tanaka could be on the radar of Premier League clubs in the summer.
