Tammy Abraham insists that AC Milan are playing with ‘confidence, courage and passion’ despite their difficult season after the draw with Inter.
The first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final tie between Milan and Inter ended 1-1, with Abraham getting his name on the scoresheet once again just like he did in the Supercoppa Italiana final.
The English striker scored in the 47th minute for the Rossoneri after a lovely turn and strike, but Hakan Calhanoglu equalised in the 67th minute for the Nerazzurri with a rocket of a shot from range.
The finalist will be decided on April 23, when the return derby will take place in Inter’s ‘home’ game at San Siro. It looks likely that the winner will play Bologna, who won their first leg away at Empoli 3-0.
Abraham spoke to SportMediaset after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on what was a hard-fought contest with everything to play for later in the months. MilanNews transcribed his comments.
Another goal in the derby…
“I am very happy for my goals, for me and for my team. A very important goal for me.”
It’s a result that still leaves everything open. Do you still believe in?
“Of course. As a striker I think you always have to be ready and in the right place, I’m very happy to have scored.”
Conceiçao is banking on you…
“We are a very strong team, every match is a final. I think we played very well, with confidence, courage, passion. That way we can win every match.”
Why don’t you show this passion every Sunday?
“I don’t know. It’s been a very difficult season. We have to gain confidence. From now on, we have to show this in every game.”
What do you have to do to get through the round? Do you need something more?
“One more goal (laughs). We have to stay positive. It was difficult for everyone. Every game is a final, there are still 10-11 games, at Milan the focus is on winning trophies and so we have to stay focused.”
