Agent Of Spain Star ‘Not Surprised’ At Breakout Serie A Debut For Inter Milan – Adds ‘Inzaghi Will Decide What’s Best’ On Future | OneFootball

The agent of goalkeeper Josep Martinez says that he is “not surprised” at the Spaniard’s breakout debut for Inter Milan in Serie A against Genoa.

Speaking to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, agent Sergio Barila also added that “Inter and Simone Inzaghi will decide” on Martinez’s future at the club.

Goalkeeper Josep Martinez made his first Serie A start for Inter Milan yesterday evening.

The Spaniard coincidentally started against his former team Genoa.

Martinez had found it difficult to get into the lineup ahead of Yann Sommer for much of the campaign.

However, an injury to Sommer handed Josep Martinez the chance to show what he’s capable of in the Inter starting eleven.

Naturally, this was not an easy situation for Martinez. Sommer’s injury put a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the former RB Leipzig and Las Palmas keeper.

However, that was not a problem for Martinez.

The 26-year-old Spanish international kept a clean sheet in his first Serie A start for Inter. He made a couple impressive saves to help the Nerazzurri to the three points.

Martinez’s agent Sergio Barila said that he was “0% surprised” by the performance from Martinez.

“Because I know him very well.”

“When we decided to sign with Inter, we knew that it would be a very important step for his career,” Barila added.

“And that he was ready for it.”

The agent noted that “Throughout his career, we’ve always tried to make the best decisions, for his present and his future.”

“Joining a club of the highest level, and with the highest demand to win, was a challenge,” Barila noted. “But we trusted him.”

“For my part I’ve always had a very clear idea in my head of what Josep’s physical, technical, and mental abilities are. He was fully prepare for the work.”

Meanwhile, as far as Martinez’s future at Inter, Barila said that “the coach and the club will decide what’s best for Inter.”

“My opinion is that he will be a keeper of a guaranteed level for any top-level club,” the agent said of Martinez.
