Interesting to hear a few Arsenal fans on the radio and YouTube calling for the head of Mikel Arteta.
It’s amazing what a humbling at home in the first leg of a semi-final can do to some.
Of course, Mikel Arteta didn’t do himself any favours with his ungracious post-match analysis.
If one good thing comes out of our victory at the Emirates, I hope it is that it shuts the ‘Isak to Arsenal’ brigade up for the time being.
I mean who do this lot think they are?
They have finished runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League for the last two seasons. I personally never ever thought they would actually win it, did you?
That’s our second victory over the Gunners so far this season and we still have to play them at least twice more.
Would anyone at the moment bet against Newcastle United completing a clean sweep against the overhyped Gooners?
I want all Toon fans to savour what Eddie and his magical Hotrods have achieved in our last three away games in little over a week.
The media will say that we beat two struggling sides in Man Utd and Spurs but that doesn’t tell the true story.
We schooled both of them on their own patch.
The current darlings of the tabloid press, Arsenal, were no different.
They and their whining manager were also found lacking when it came to putting up any resistance to an efficient and well organised United.
We cannot take anything for granted but we really now should have one foot in the Carabao Cup Final.
Arsenal will prioritise their League programme and Champions League commitments over the second leg at Gallowgate.
Eddie Howe won’t let complacency set in anyway. This man is as hungry for success at Newcastle as much as any of us are.
I am proud of my team.
We have made great strides in the last five or six weeks and are currently an irresistible brand.
We are closing the gap on the Septics and are in a healthy league position.
It’s Bromley next at St James’ Park in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and that’s where our focus will turn to.
When you are on a run like Newcastle are, you just have to take every game one by one.
This is the best I’ve felt for a while and at the moment I think we can beat anyone.
