The defender was introduced for the returning Micky van de Ven in a pre-planned half-time change on Thursday, as Spurs beat Elfsborg 3-0 to seal a top-eight spot in the Europa League.

The Romanian was forced off within 20 minutes after landing awkwardly on his knee and is being assessed.

While Postecoglou is still unsure about the severity of Dragusin’s injury, he will not be involved this weekend.

“We'll let it settle down and obviously get some information over the weekend,” Postecoglou said. “Not available for the weekend at the moment and we just have to see the extent of it.

“Hard to tell [if it is serious]. It's a knee, so we've got to let it settle down. There's always concern when there's a knee injury but we don't know the extent.”

Djed Spence is set to return to the squad after being ineligible in the Europa League, however, while Sergio Reguilon is also in contention.

Van de Ven is fit again but unlikely to play 90 minutes at the Gtech, and Postecoglou could soon welcome back a host of other key players.

“They are all kind of around the same time, around 10 days time,” the Australian said.

“We are talking about [Guglielmo] Vicario, [Brennan] Johnson, Destiny [Udogie], Wilson [Odobert], Timo [Werner].

“[Cristian] Romero is a bit of a tricky one. We are not really sure yet. There is still some work he needs to do. Certainly all those guys, I think of the long term ones apart from Dom [Solanke] who is probably a week behind them, the rest of them are slated to be back in the next week to 10 days to be available.

“Madders [James Maddison] is probably around the same time. So if we get two or three of those back in sort of 10 days' time and then maybe a few days later, a couple of the others.

“That's why I'm trying to manage the minutes of the guys we have available because we don't want to lose anyone else, but again, best laid plans, you know, we obviously tried to shield Radu last night, because he had played a lot of football, in the first half and he comes on and you know he gets injured.”

Romero is back in Tottenham training but is not expected be rushed back into action.

“It’s just a slower healer with him and it is one we are looking at on a week to week basis,” Postecoglou said of the Argentine centre-half.

“Again, he has been out for quite a while. Like with all the other long term ones, we are just taking our time.”
