Ange Postecoglou conversation key in convincing Mathys Tel to join Tottenham | OneFootball

It was what perhaps made the difference in a late deadline day twist for Tottenham Hotspur. L’Équipe and RMC Sport reported recently that Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel (19) is set to join the Premier League side, but further details from Le Parisien have shed light on how the young Frenchman changed was convinced to join Spurs. LP Journalist Benjamin Quarez reports that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou pushed hard for the move, holding a lengthy discussion with the teenager to explain his plans and how he wanted to use the player. The exchange with the Australian coach proved vital for Tel, who is now due to travel to London to sign for the Premier League side after Bayern gave the former Rennes man permission to travel while negotiating the final details of the deal.The Frenchman decided to leave Bayern Munich in search of game time earlier this month and was subsequently the subject of interest from a whole range of Premier League sides. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham were all interested. The latter even reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for a permanent deal before Tel then rejected a move to the London-based club. This was before chairman Daniel Levy travelled to Germany to try and convince the player himself.

The format of the deal remains a question mark. RMC Sport understands that it will be a loan deal. L’Équipe, however, believe that there is a possibility that it will be a permanent transfer worth €60m.GFFN | George Boxall
