Liverpool boss Arne Slot has said he feels a real sense of “responsibility” to win the Premier League – one that fans can actually enjoy this time around.

After Arsenal slipped up midweek with a draw against Crystal Palace, the Reds now just need a single point against Spurs on Sunday to wrap up the title and round off a brilliant first season under Slot.

They could’ve clinched it on Wednesday if the Gunners had lost, and the whole Liverpool squad were watching that one together in case they got the chance to celebrate there and then.

Of course, they last won the league in 2019/20, but that was behind closed doors due to COVID – no fans in the ground, no open-top bus parade, and supporters had to keep the party pretty low-key after waiting 30 years.

As it stands, anything but a loss to Tottenham would be enough to get their hands on the trophy with four games still to play. But Slot’s not getting carried away just yet.

“It's a big responsibility because we are aware of the fact last time this club won the league it was Covid times,” Slot said.

“Everybody is looking forward to Sunday but there's still a job to be done which is one point, that's what we know and hopefully our fans know as well.”
