Liverpool’s 2024/25 season has been illuminated by individual brilliance, with Mohamed Salah shining brightest. The Egyptian forward’s sensational form, including a goal and assist in the Merseyside derby against Everton, underlines his position as world football’s standout star.
Arsene Wenger, the iconic former Arsenal manager, has singled out Salah as his favourite player. Speaking to GOAL, he stated:
“The favourite player at the moment I think is a guy like Salah,” said FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development. “Because despite the longevity, his career is still at the top.”

Salah’s 14th assist of the season, recorded at Goodison Park, edges him closer to the Premier League record of 20 assists, set by Wenger’s former star Thierry Henry during the 2002/03 campaign.
While some Liverpool supporters may prioritise team success over individual awards, Salah’s Ballon d’Or prospects are compelling. With the trophy currently held by Rodri, competitors such as Vinicius Jnr, Raphinha, Harry Kane, and Robert Lewandowski pose challenges. However, Salah’s unmatched consistency and dazzling performances make him a formidable contender for football’s highest individual honour.
