Aston Villa were one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window.
The Midlands outfit paid €59 million to sign Amadou Onana from Everton, while Ian Maatsen, Jaden Philogene and Samuel Iling-Junior also cost sizeable fees.
Villa have made a good start to the season, losing just two of their 10 matches to be level on points with Arsenal.
Unai Emery’s side are currently enduring a poor run of form, having lost their previous three matches in all competitions.
However, their overall performances and results have been positive this season.
Despite the huge summer spending, Villa will be active in the January transfer window.
According to A Bola, the Midlands outfit are preparing to sign ‘excellent’ Portuguese star Pedro Goncalves.
The Lions were linked with the 26-year-old last summer, but they were unwilling to meet Sporting CP’s demands.
Goncalves has an €80 million release clause in his contract that runs until June 2027. Villa will look to pay a lower amount after Ruben Amorim’s departure.
The attacker joined the club in 2020 and has since made 189 appearances across all competitions, bagging 81 goals and 57 assists.
