Barcelona admirers of €70m-rated Premier League attacker – should the Catalans sign him?

Barcelona are looking to explore the market again for attacking reinforcements in the upcoming summer transfer window.
A left-winger is a priority after the Catalan giants failed to land Nico Williams from Atheltic Bilbao last summer.
The Blaugarana were on the brink of signing the talented Spanish winger, but the move failed to materialise. The club eventually brought in Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig for €60 million.
While the interest in Williams hasn’t cooled off, Barca have shortlisted several other attacking targets.
According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are admirers of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, who could be on the move this summer.
Barcelona sporting director Deco is reportedly a huge fan of the Colombian winger, who is high on his transfer wishlist.
Diaz’s dream destination is Barcelona, which could give the Catalan club a huge advantage in the transfer negotiations with the Reds.
However, no concrete talks have been initiated between the two parties. Barcelona’s well-documented financial crisis could scupper the deal.
Diaz has steadily grown into a pivotal player for Liverpool since moving from Porto in 2022.
He has racked up nine goals and four assists this season, already bettering last season’s goal tally in the Premier League.
Although the 28-year-old has experienced a dry spell in front of goal, his presence in the attack has been vital to the Reds.
Barcelona have relied on Raphinha as their left winger for most of the season, although he tends to drift inside and pulls strings as a free-roaming player.
It has forced the left-black Alejandro Balde to provide width on the left-hand side and manage the defensive duties.
While Balde has flourished in this role under Hansi Flick, signing a new winger could help reduce his workload.
Diaz’s directness, pace, dribbling flair and ability to exploit the spaces behind the defence make him a perfect addition to the Blaugrana.
However, the only sticking point will be his price tag, as the Blaugrana will struggle to meet his current valuation of €70 million.
With a contract running until 2027, the Reds will likely demand a huge sum for Diaz this summer.
