There is simply no room for error at FC Barcelona this season, and that applies in every way possible. Beyond just the expectations of the team to deliver titles, even the tactics themselves are extremely dependent on taking risks. However, even a single error can be quite critical for this Barcelona team based on how they play.

By maintaining the high-pressure and high-line that Hansi Flick has implemented, the Catalan club is expected to play as close to perfection as possible to avoid any of the downsides to the tactics that they deploy. Unfortunately, there were exposed rather evidently by Real Sociedad in their latest encounter.

However, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is open to accepting that his team cannot be perfect at all times and that a defeat would have come sooner or later to ground his team again, but what he does not accept at any cost is the way that his team started off both halves against La Real.

Complacent and overconfident, Barcelona were both of these things and more in each half they played at the Reale Arena. As a consequence of that, the opposition came close to scoring in exactly those periods and by some stroke of luck and a little bit of timing on their side, Flick’s team barely managed to escape some certain goals that Real Sociedad could have scored.

This particular carelessness as if the opening minutes do not matter is something that Flick does not accept. Moreover, the German coach is reportedly bothered by the belief that simply because Barcelona is better on paper that they can afford to go behind and make some sort of a comeback later on. For the former Bayern Munich coach, this though process is simply unacceptable.

Still, given that a key player like Lamine Yamal is absent, it became clear that even Flick’s system has some clear downsides to it. Without the presence of a pure winger on either side, the structure tends to collapse and look ineffective for much of the game, and this is something that must be addressed as soon as possible.
