Barcelona defender suffers an accidental blow in training ahead of Espanyol clash

After their 4-3 win over Real Madrid in their last league game, FC Barcelona are now only a single win away from winning the La Liga title. Thus, their league title can be confirmed if they win the upcoming Barcelona derby.
The Catalans are set to play their next match against Espanyol at Cornella-El Prat, and there is no doubt that being confirmed La Liga winners at this hostile stadium would be a special occasion for the players.
The Blaugranes are already preparing for this game, and as BarcaTimes has reported, there was a rather unfortunate event in the training session held today.
The defender Pau Cubarsi, who had to be substituted with a physical problem in the match against Real Madrid, suffered an accidental blow to his right knee from Robert Lewandowski in today’s session. He spent a few minutes staying on the ground and had to be treated by the medical staff.
However, fortunately, he was able to rejoin his teammates in training. Still, it is uncertain whether he will be ready for the match tomorrow.

Even if he is ready and fit, Hansi Flick might decide not to risk Pau Cubarsi in this game, as Barcelona virtually have the league title in the bag.
In his absence, the German tactician can decide to field Ronald Araujo and Inigo Martinez as his centre-back pairing against Espanyol, while Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen will also be available. However, Garcia might still have to play as a right back in this game as Jules Kounde is out with an injury.
On the other hand, Alejandro will be fully fit for this game, as he came on as a substitute in the match against Real Madrid and played the last couple of minutes without any problems. He might be ready to start this upcoming game on Thursday.
