Had Ansu Fati not suffered his gruesome injury that derailed his career, Barcelona may have had two of the world’s best young attacking talents at their disposal in him and Lamine Yamal.
The latter is still seen as one of the best in the business and is a serious weapon for the Catalans in the final third. Fati, however, has not enjoyed the same luck and is now very close to leaving the club.
Despite being included in Barcelona’s squad to face Benfica, it is clear that Hansi Flick does not count on him. The player, however, insists on fighting until the end.
As relayed in a recent report by Jijantes, Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes, Deco and Barcelona president Joan Laporta met earlier this week in Lisbon to discuss the future of Fati.
Also on the agenda was the future of Lamine Yamal and a contract renewal that both parties are working towards.

The youngster is one of Barcelona’s highest earners at the moment and his reluctance to leave the club is understandable.
After all, he is also on great financial terms and has also struggled to impress even on his loan stint in the past.
Barcelona, for their part, are looking to engineer a departure at the earliest as they wish to reinforce the department with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford who is waiting for Barcelona to give him the green light.
So far this season, Fati has only made four appearances for the Catalans and has not provided any goal contributions in La Liga. His contract runs until 2027, and there is not much Barcelona can do to force an exit as it stands if the player is insistent on staying.
