Not everyone can be a starter at FC Barcelona, but that does not mean that they will not get opportunities. Despite the intense competition at the club, there is always a need for players fighting for their place. Fortunately for Barcelona, they have several such fighters.

While it is difficult for such players to prove their true worth in the limited amount of playing time that is given to them, there are still those who manage to do so. Through their efficiency and instant impact, there are a few Barcelona players who have announced themselves this season.

Even in the recent win over UD Las Palmas, both of the goal scorers that helped Barcelona get all three points were substitutes. Beyond just having Hansi Flick’s blessing to turn the tide of the game, they also actively delivered and made every single minute count.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the two players who managed to do that were Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres. Both Spaniards entered the game as substitutes, but were both vital when it came to delivering the goals that Barcelona desperately needed.

This recent performance from both players just further solidified how efficient they have been this season. Despite not regularly starting at times, they have been highly efficient in terms of finding the back of the net even with a lack of minutes.

Ferran Torres, for instance, is a player whose efficiency is not a secret of any kind. He is already the team’s third-highest goalscorer this season, despite having only played 1076 minutes. With eleven goals to his name this season, six of those goals have arrived when he came on as a substitute in various games and has proven himself to be a reliable asset.

As a starter, he has goals against RCD Mallorca (1), and Valencia (4). On the other hand, as a substitute, he has scored against the likes of Borussia Dortmund (2), Real Valladolid (1), Real Betis (2), and UD Las Palmas (1) recently.

According to the information provided by MD, he is averaging a goal every 130 minutes in La Liga, and has a better goalscoring ratio than both Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha as well. However, when all competitions are considered, his ratio improves even more with a goal every 87 minutes,

Similarly, as per the statistics provided by MD, Dani Olmo is also a player who thrives when it comes to efficiency. He averages a goal every 124 minutes in La Liga, a statistic even better than what Ferran Torres has managed so far. He has scored 7 goals in total this season, and two of them have come from him as a substitute.

During the recent game against Las Palmas, both Olmo and Torres were vital to the team’s victory. Olmo was directly involved in 42 actions during the match, and had a 78.6% pass completion rate with 28 passes. Torres, in just 5 minutes on the pitch, was involved in 9 actions and had a 85% pass competition rate with 7 completed passes.
