Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has taken a cautious approach when discussing the club’s chances of winning the Champions League this season.

While optimism runs high within the squad, the young midfielder has been measured in his response when asked whether Barcelona should be considered favourites for the prestigious European title.

Barcelona are currently in the hunt for a treble-winning campaign, leading LaLiga, securing a place in the Champions League quarter-finals, and advancing to the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Their performances have sparked confidence among both fans and players. Key figures such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Gavi have openly expressed their belief in the team’s ability to achieve this historic feat.

However, not every player in the squad is getting carried away with expectations.

Fermin Lopez is cautious

When asked whether Barcelona should be seen as frontrunner for the Champions League, Fermin chose to remain level-headed. He acknowledged the team’s quality and potential but refrained from outright declaring them favourites.

“I don’t see myself as a favourite or anything like that. We know we have a lot of possibilities because we can see the team we have, how we play and what we transmit. We can win any title,” he said as quoted by SPORT.

Beyond their on-field performances, Fermin highlighted the importance of unity within the dressing room.

He pointed out that the strong connection among the players, particularly those who have come through La Masia, plays a crucial role in their success.

“We are a very young group, many of us know each other from the youth academy and that is then reflected on the field.”

He emphasised that their rise to the top of multiple competitions is no coincidence but rather a result of hard work, talent, and collective understanding.

“It just so happens that with the situation of the club and everything, they have given us young players the opportunity and it’s a dream for all of us. It is no coincidence that we are so high in all competitions,” he added.

As Barcelona continue their pursuit of silverware, the squad remains confident yet grounded.

While some players openly embrace the treble dream, others, like Fermin, prefer to take it one step at a time, ensuring the focus remains on the challenges ahead rather than prematurely celebrating what is yet to be achieved.
